Hi Everyone! My name is Francesca and I am a Zumba enthusiast. My mom introduced me to Zumba in June of 2011, and it has changed my life ever since. I am so passionate about Zumba because it just feels like a party every single time! Over the last couple months, Zumba has helped me cope with stress, loss, and just made my life so much happier. People say Zumba is like a cult exercise group, but I see it more as a family. We are so supportive of each other and my instructor always knows how to make me smile, even in the roughest times. I’m 18 right now, and my goal is to become a Zumba instructor very soon and hopefully teach some classes at whatever college I decide to attend.

As for the name of my blog, I call it Zumba. Love. For a Cause. It’s for a cause because, although right now I may just be posting about Zumba, when I become an instructor, I want to stand on a platform and Zumba for suicide prevention and mental health. At 18 years old, I am a suicide survivor. When I say survivor, I mean I have lost loved ones to suicide. Seven to be exact, and my own best friend struggles with mental health issues every day. I am passionate about Zumba and passionate about Suicide Awareness and Prevention, so one day I hope to participate in or host a couple Suicide Awareness/Mental Health Zumbathons.

Okay, enough words and ZUMBA. LOVE. FOR A CAUSE. <3

Update on my life right now:

I am officially a high school graduate and Boston-bound college student! That’s right, this California girl will be attending Boston University next fall.

This past semester has been a whirlwind for me. I got a job at Hollister and quickly became part of the Seagull family. I worked at least 12-16 hours a week during the school year, in addition to teaching “Zumba but not officially Zumba” classes at my high school for students and faculty after school. They were a huge success and a great way to end the year and my time at SI.

This summer is a summer of change. Not only will I be moving to Boston in August, but my family and I are also moving to a new home. We will be moving from the gorgeous, beautiful, hustling bustling city of San Francisco to the more quiet and suburban life in the beautiful, warm, valley-like Fremont. Let’s just say I’m a little more excited about the move to Boston.
